Society of St. Vincent de Paul Cleveland
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Diocese of Cleveland, is a volunteer-driven nonprofit serving neighbors in need across eight counties in Northeast Ohio. They partnered with Briefcase Marketing to rebuild a website that supports their core mission – getting more donations, helping more people, and recruiting more volunteers.
The Challenge.
Nonprofit websites often have to serve multiple audiences at once. For SVDP Cleveland, we were facing a 4-headed dragon of user experience:
1. Getting more donations
2. Helping the people they want to help
3. Getting more volunteers to help those people
4. Preserving 160 years of organizational history
Their old site made all four harder than they needed to be. Navigation was confusing. Assistance information was buried. Volunteer forms looked intimidating. And the origin story of one of Cleveland's oldest charitable organizations wasn't getting the attention it deserved.

Our Role.
We rebuilt the site from the ground up - organizing it around those four priorities.
Clear calls-to-action and mobile-first design. Better navigation and faster access to assistance information. A dedicated volunteer page with a simplified onboarding process and less intimidating forms.
We also made sure that origin story, and the legacy of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, was featured prominently on the About page.

The Results.
SVDP Cleveland now has a website built to support an organization that served over 156,000 people last year, coordinates more than 1,100 volunteers, distributes 1.5 million pounds of food annually, and provides $1.2 million in utility assistance.
The site makes it easier to give, easier to get help, and easier to get involved.

Photography
Visually showing the good work they do, as well as the volunteers who do the work, was an important part of the website process. We sent a photographer to several different SVDP locations to capture relevant pictures.
Due to the sensitive nature of their work, we did not capture any client interactions.
