Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd Institute

Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd Institute (MMGSI) is an initiative of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland to develop, promote, and enhance the intellectual formation of adults throughout northeast Ohio. Briefcase Marketing built their brand from the ground up—logo, website, print materials, photography, and video.

The Challenge.

For many Catholics, faith formation ends at high school. Few have the time or resources to pursue graduate theology classes. But the questions don't stop. Adults are still asking serious questions about God, faith, and themselves—and most don't know where to turn.

MMGSI was created to fill that gap. The institute offers undergraduate-level courses, seminars, and lectures for adults who want to go deeper. But as a new initiative, they had no established brand, no website, and no marketing infrastructure. The Diocese had some existing materials, but MMGSI made the investment to get professionally done work that matched the seriousness of what they were building.

Our Role.

We built everything from scratch.

That started with branding—a custom logo, color palette, typography system, and brand guidelines that could carry across every touchpoint. Then we wrote and designed the website, developing messaging that speaks to three distinct audiences: vocational discerners exploring God's call, ministry leaders powering parish life, and curious seekers who want to explore the depths of the Catholic intellectual tradition.

We also produced developed a custom events module, shot and edited three videos, captured professional photography on-site, and designed a full suite of print materials—brochures, flyers, posters, handouts, vertical banner stands, and event-specific designs.

The Results.

MMGSI now has everything they need to launch: a cohesive brand, a website built to convert interest into enrollment, video content that explains what they offer and why it matters, and print materials ready for events and parish distribution.

Branding & Identity

A new initiative needs a visual identity that communicates credibility and purpose from the start. We designed a custom logo, selected a color palette, developed a typography system, and documented everything in brand guidelines the Diocese can use for years to come.

Photography

We knew we needed high quality photography to capture the quality and classy events they put on. The goal with these photos was to show what success looks like to people interested in attending. Our photographer captured over 50 high quality photos we used across their website and print materials.

We produced three videos to help MMGSI reach people at different stages of interest:

Print & Promotional Materials

A website alone doesn’t fill a room. MMGSI needed materials they could hand out at parishes, events, and ministry gatherings. We designed and printed brochures, flyers, posters, vertical banner stands, and event-specific pieces—all consistent with the brand we built.
