Slaking Thirsts Podcast

Slaking Thirsts is a Catholic podcast featuring Fr. Patrick Schultz and Fr. Ryan Mann. Their homilies and talks help listeners unveil the living Christ. From 2021 to 2026, Briefcase Marketing managed the podcast.

The Challenge.

The content was (is) excellent. Fr. Patrick and Fr. Ryan are gifted preachers, and listeners kept coming back.

But with over a million listens and no content organization, people kept saying the same thing: "Please categorize the talks… it's hard to find what we want." Homilies. Parish missions. Talks for men. Talks for women. It was all mixed together with no clear way to browse. The priests had the content. They just didn't have a home for it.

Our Role.

We took over podcast management in 2021 and built the infrastructure to help Slaking Thirsts grow. That meant standardizing naming conventions so listeners could quickly decide if an episode was for them. It meant creating a new podcast logo and artwork. It meant adding custom tags so every RSS feed recognized the content correctly. And it meant building a website with automatically updating playlists, clear navigation, and branding that matched the podcast identity.

The Results.

Slaking Thirsts grew from 68,391 listeners in 2020 to 605,657 listeners in 2023 - an 8x increase over three years, with more than 1.3 million total listens.

The website now organizes years of content into searchable categories: Homilies, Parish Missions & Retreat Talks, Growing in Your Faith, Men's Ministry, and Women's Ministry. Listeners can find exactly what they're looking for, and the priests can focus on what they do best - preaching.

What We Built Behind the Scenes

We standardized every episode title so listeners could scan and decide quickly instead of guessing what a talk was about. We added custom RSS tags so the podcast displayed correctly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and everywhere else.

We also created dedicated playlists organized by topic (Homilies, Parish Missions, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Growing in Your Faith) so people could browse instead of scrolling through hundreds of episodes. Then we built a website that pulls in new episodes automatically. No manual updates. The priests record, we upload, and the site stays current.

The result: 8x listener growth, five organized content categories, and zero daily effort required from Fr. Patrick or Fr. Ryan.
